It goes without saying, staying at a resort, hotel, camp, guesthouse, etc., sounds like a more convenient option. You basically trade your own four walls and mattress for someone else's for a while, plus the extra (paid for) comfort. It's predictable. It's safe. It's relaxing. It's comfortable. It's sweet. If that's what you're looking for, resort stays are for you.
The good thing about resorts in the Maldives is that most of them cater to surfers. They are located close to waves and/or have an in-house surf program on-site, equipped with boats and guides to take you wherever the waves are firing.
It's also a great option if your entourage of choice is your family, as resorts usually have a great deal of extra activities available to keep everyone happy. Doesn't it sound sweet to trade barrels with your significant other while the kids are occupied building castles in the sand? Not to mention the food, spas, rooms, all-you-can-eat gelatos (yes, gelatos!!).
Surfing isn't just about roughing it through the treacherous seas in search of uncharted waves. These are dreams, and dreams generally don't turn out to be true. Or they do - but only sometimes.
